Polly James

Polly James is the author behind the popular blog mid-wife-crisis-blog.blogspot.co.uk which details family life from inside the world of politics. It was shortlisted for the Orwell Prize, Britain’s most prestigious prize for political writing, awarded for the work which comes closest to George Orwell’s ambition “to make political writing into an art.” Polly's first novel, Diary of an Unsmug Married (Avon, 2014) is based on the blog and garnered great reviews. Polly's second novel, Would Like to Meet, was published in 2016 with Avon, and is clever, funny and poignant novel about mid-life love and identity, in a comic cross between You've Got Mail and Shirley Valentine. Polly James was born in Wales, but now lives in East Anglia, which she finds unnervingly flat, and chock-full of writers.

“A properly good writer” -  India Knight

"An emotionally intelligent, funny and sad look at the end of a long relationship, how difficult it is to adjust to life alone and how important it is to reconnect with friends and re-discover your identity…James is a great writer." - Daily Mail
